I do. His name is Langston Hughes. I've admired his work since my sophomore year in high school after my English teacher, standing on her desk, recited A Dream Deferred.
This one is one I came across today! It made me smile.
Harlem Night Song
Come,
Let us roam the night together
Singing.
I love you.
Across
The Harlem roff-tops
Moon is shining.
Night sky is blue.
Stars are great drops
Of golden dew.
Down the street
A band is playing.
I love you.
Come,
Let us roam the night together
Singing.

Poetry & Sunny Days
That combination makes for a skip to my lou disposition! This weekend was absolutely pleasant. I wouldn't have had it any other way.
I bought two poetry books this weekend. I don't think I'll ever have enough poetry. Wanna see??
I really enjoy the illustrations that accompany the poems in this anthology. If you hang out with any kids I strongly recommend this book. It's got GREAT stuff - from silly to GO GET 'em TIGER!
WHOA NELLY! This is good. The english translation does it NO JUSTICE! Spanish is so beautiful. It's times like these when I wish EVERYONE could understand it!

New Year Bells
By Leland B. Jacobs
A bell that was big
And gruff and bold
Bade good-bye
To the year grown old.
A bell that was small
And tinkled clear
Called greetings
To the youngest year,
Then all the bells
Joined the merry din
And the bright new year
Was welcomed in.

Bade good-bye
To the year grown old.

Then all the bells
Joined the merry din
And the bright new year
Was welcomed in.

A Wednesday Word: making wednesdays worthwhile
It's dissappointing when you're looking for a fun word and all you think of is the word FRUSTRATION!
frus·tra·tion /frʌˈstreɪʃən/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled
Pronunciation[fruh-strey-shuhn] Pronunciation Key -
–noun
a feeling of dissatisfaction, often accompanied by anxiety resulting from unresolved problems.
It's a common word (although I wish it weren't so common) and it is not anywhere near as fun as the common word success. Success feels far from my reach. And I'm not talking like Hollywood success - I mean the kind of success that makes you warm and fuzzy inside. Satisfaction. You know?
I'll make sure to post that I am feeling satisfied the next time I sign in. Who wants to hear about someone's pity party!
My grandmother once told me: THIS TOO SHALL PASS! :o)
On a less serious note...I recommend the book Runny Babbit for laughs. It's a Billy Sook! Full of Pun Foems!

Poetry-holic
I've been addicted to poetry lately. So much so that I even thought of the poem I had to memorize in seventh grade - The Tide Rises, the Tide Falls by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Who would have ever thought that a name like HENRY WADSWORTH LONGFELLOW would stick with a kid?
Here's a poem that is fitting for November.
Here's a poem that is fitting for November.
November Night
by Adelaide Crapsey
Listen. .
With faint dry sound,
Like steps of passing ghosts,
The leaves, frost-crisp'd, break from the trees
And fall.
