How do you fix the time on these things? I sure did not write the last post at 4 pm!!! Nor did I write this at 8.50ish.

I feel disgusted when I can’t keep up with a fun feature for my blog!
I chose the word because the definition is so freakin descriptive. It reminds me of when someone looks at me when they are upset with me. (I know ridiculous!)

So, Uhm, yeah. What a week!

Last week, I took some time off to help my dad’s church with Vacation Bible School. I did the decorations, helped my mom with crafts, and had 14-17 year olds in my class. It was fun, busy, and a nice time to take a break from work – you know, change of scenery.

So that schedule has messed me up so much, and maybe it’s not the schedule. Instead, it may be that I got just a tad bit worked up about coming back to work knowing there’s a load to do to meet deadlines. Regardless, starting Saturday night there have been three nights in a row that I’ve been unable to get REAL sleep. I’ll admit that ONE night was my fault! It was totally my fault. But one night I was WIDE AWAKE like….laying there with my eyes WIDE OPEN until 3 am, ladies and gentlemen. 3 am. Three hours of sleep on a full schedule is not cool. The previous nights I had maybe 4 hours, but wow. I'm a DISASTER when I don’t sleep.

All that to say: THANK GOD I SLEPT LIKE A ROCK LAST NIGHT!!!

Today started like this.

Mom: Mimi, look at this. I cannot take the pain anymore. (she’s crying)
Mimi: What’s going on with your eye?
Mom: I don’t know but I’ve scheduled an appointment for 10 this morning to see the eye doctor. Can you take me?
Mimi: OF COURSE! Let me call work.
Okay, so my mom’s eye was EXTREMELY red and swollen. SCARY!! It turns out that she has a paper cut like “scratch” in her eye. She was working in the yard and had a plant whack her in the face. Okay, so THEN, after the doctor’s appointment, we’re headed out to the car, ready to go home and my brother Tim is escorting my mother who is wearing a patch over her eye and who is SO uncomfortable, and, yeah, I have a flat! Had this been yesterday, I would have cried.

Instead, I was reasonable and started to work on getting the tire changed, thankful that my mom is inside and not outside in the heat. I don't think I really knew what I was doing - regarding the tire changing business, but I had a PRETTY good idea. So, I get the jack out and start clicking it up…or however you call that (jacking it up?) and this guy comes out of nowhere, says, “I can take care of this ma’am!” He takes out my puny jack and uses his amazing jack (I need to invest in one like his) and changes my tire, and leaves before I could give him an exuberant thank you and offer him any money. (WOW is all I have to say about that! That was really nice.)

Really, it was amazing that I got to work at 1 pm this afternoon and that I met my “deadlines.” There’s still a lot to do, because it doesn’t ever end, but Wow. I’m so incredibly thankful I got rest last night because I wouldn’t have made it.
And OMG! Yesterday, I met up with some people at a baseball game, but I rode up there by myself. LIKE BY MYSELF...can you imagine if I was on my way home from the game in DOWNTOWN HOUSTON by MYSELF and had a flat then?

Like I was told once: Life is timing!

Flowers!

I love Flowers! Can a nice boy bring by some flowers just for me? That would be nice. Until then...I have a picture of Ranunculus flowers that made me gasp because of their beauty. I'll share them with you.

Oh and SPEAKING OF FLOWERS!!! My mother has the greenest thumb I've ever met. I love to spend time looking at the flowers in her garden. It's BEE-UTIFUL!!! Okay, so take a look at my mom's orchids! Aren't they amazing?

There are about 25 flowers on this baby! Isn't that amazing. It's beautiful...really it is!

Global Heart Warming – yes.

A while ago, I saw a little blurb on TV about Young at Heart. This musician decided he’d go to the older generation to sing modern music (Rock n' ROLL) and I tell you what, I LOVE IT!! There is something so special about this group. Older people have so much to teach us and they have stories we know not of...They’d tell us if we’d stop to listen. These guys don’t know if their friends are going to make it to the next concert. “It’s a part of life,” they say.

Watch this video – This is one where they practiced with the lead singer. The lead singer didn’t make it so they invited another YOUNG at Heart to sing Coldplay's, FIX YOU. The oxygen tank – you can hear it. It gave me chills, and, of course, I had to reach for the Kleenex. I can't wait to see the movie.

And friends - I want to give you HUGE hugs!

Followthrough #1 - The Table

Okay, I made a promise. And I'm keeping it. Here's Promise #1: The Craft Room Table.

View A: When you walk in, you see the full effect of the table when in use. Look at Zaccheus trying to steal the show. (yeah, still no flooring. don't hate.)

View B: The Birdseye view. Ooohhh, look at how nice it is!!!!
View C: Looking up. This is the signature of authenticity. It was hand made. Yeah. Impressive, right?

**************************************************************
So, I'm totally excited because I have a finalized vision for this room. Those curtains are going BYE BYE! I'm in search of the perfect BLACK curtains.
The room will consist of these colors:
  • BLACK
  • White (and variations of...)
  • Silver (accents)
  • Brown (wood - the chairs, table, and old school desk)
These colors don't seem like the likely combination, but ooooh JUST you wait. I can't!!!
*****************************************************

Just cause, I want to show you the old school desk - or the reading corner.
On the chair, I have a blanket that I crocheted and a little blankie my grandmother made for me. To the side of the chair I have a basket full of my favorite magazines EVER! And I want to get rid of the thing beside the basket, but I haven't decided I'm ready to let go yet.

Home. REALLY SWEET SWEET HOME!

I'm finally home. It's a reason to celebrate. My schedule will now be SANE! I went to DC this past week. It was as I imagined...busy with little sleep. It was good though - really good. I know...Perhaps I should elaborate.
  1. We were SUPER prepared. It seemed as though, no - more like we WERE really behind! And then, we ended up ahead of schedule. We didn't have to come in for Memorial Day weekend if we didn't want to (no that's not exactly true), but I went ahead to get one of my least favorite tasks out of the way.
  2. We had a great turn out at the meeting and have had great results to our ASK on the Hill.
  3. We were pretty much packed up the day before we were scheduled to pack...which made it an even breezier packing day in DC.
  4. I slept well...except for 2 nights. I know I just said little sleep...but sleeping well is different from the amount of time you get...make sense?
  5. Three of us went for a walk to the Jefferson Memorial the day of our departure early one morning.
  6. The WEATHER was amazing...except for on our closing dinner cruise down the patomac...and when Jennifer had to go on a Staples Run (then it was not so great).
  7. (edit**adding number 7) Okay - So I have a new favorite restaurant. OMG! Seriously amazing!!! Go to Ceiba! You won't regret it.
Why home is so sweet:
  1. Zaccheus. OMG. So adorable. I ♥ him!
  2. Hugs from people I love from the bottom of my heart...and they love me too.
  3. My pillow and my bed.
  4. No pressure...sanctuary.
  5. Church - I miss it.
  6. OMG I could go through the list of my possessions. My theory is what you have should be your favorite {fill in the blank} . And I have lots and lots of favorites...and I get all giddy and happy when I get to see these favorite things!
You know what's sad...my basil didn't make it. I was away for a week and my basil is DEAD! This is try number 2. What haunts me is that STUPID STUPID movie: 28 days. In that movie someone says that if you can't keep a pet or a plant alive then you aren't ready for a relationship. Pretty sure that if my family wasn't able to help me care for Zaccheus that poor dog would be a bone.

Enough...This is so random and it has no structure really...I'm just happy to be home.
